The Canterbury Archers' Society
The Canterbury Archers' Society has a 3D Archery course situated in the Otahuna valley which is east of Tai Tapu on the Akaroa highway, just a few minutes out of Christchurch. The property is on a hill with beautiful trees and view from the top of the hill. This is a full course of 23 life size 3D foam targets set up to simulate actual hunting conditions and are all at different distances so the challenge is much greater than shooting at a target range. Each target is scored by the accuracy of each shot at the target and the number of arrows fired. The club meets every weekend. The next few club shoots will be:

Sunday 21/02/2010
Sunday 7/03/2010
Sunday 14/03/2010
Sunday 21/03/2010
Sunday 28/03/2010

Registration Time: 9:30 to 10am

The club has a friendly relaxed atmosphere, with experienced archers who are willing to give you helpful tips.
New members of all ages are welcome, see the Contacts page if you'd like to get in touch.

Note that we are moving to a new location on the 27th and 28th of February, hence there won't be a club shoot on those days.

The new Archery Range is open!

A big thank you to all who lent a hand moving the archery range. The best part is that it was all done in one weekend!

All of the targets are up and in position. I have to say that the new range is looking very good and is going to be a pleasure to shoot. All the work was completed by 1:00pm on Sunday.

After the BBQ the five people left at the range had a round of archery, that being Charlie, Alan, Tim, Tom and Andre. The new course was opened by Alan Dower who took the first shot.

So I can now offically say that the new course is open and ready for action.

Note concerning parking: when you arrive at the archery range we are to park next to the shed (where the horse people are) and walk to the container. This area is the designated car park.

Last, to those who are going down south on the wallaby hunt, all the best and have a good time. If there are any others who want to go on the wallaby hunt please get in contact with Charlie Officer.

Now as always may your arrows fly straight!!!

Regards
Andre

We are moving!

Sadly, after more than a decade at our current location the time has come for us to move on.

The good news though is we've negotiated an alternative location with a landowner just around the corner from where we currently are, and now we need your help with the move!

We plan to get everything moved and set up at the new location next weekend (27th & 28th of February), starting at 9am each day.

What needs moving:

  • All of the targets
  • The three specialty targets
  • All of the pegs
  • All of the back stops
  • The two portable toilets
  • Any other odds and ends that need moving

Please bring something to eat as well as refreshments for yourselves.

On Sunday we will be having a BBQ in the afternoon so bring along some meat, rolls / bread as well as refreshments.

Click here for a map showing where we're moving to.

Looking forward to seeing all there!

A hunt based only on trophies taken falls far short of what the ultimate goal should be . . . time to commune with your inner soul as you share the outdoors with the birds, animals, and fish that live there.
